North Andover School Committee Seeks Volunteers For Superintendent Search

The search committee will conduct initial interview and narrow the field of candidates to replace Superintendent Jennifer Price.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- The North Andover Sschool Committee plans to name a search committee next month to find a replacement for Superintendent Jennifer Price, who is stepping down at the end of the school year. In a letter posted on the town's Webite, School Committee Chairman Amy Mabley said people named to the committee would conduct initial interviews to narrow the field of candidates and could expect "a significant time commitment on a limited number of evenings."

The makeup and size of the search committee will be determined at the school committee's Oct. 5 meeting. Mabley said people interested in serving on the search committee should email a statement of interest and an outline of qualifications to NASearch@northandoverpublicschools.com by Friday, October 6th.

"Replacing Dr. Price was not one of our planned areas of focus for this school year; nevertheless, the North Andover School Committee is committed to conducting a candidate search in the coming months to identify our next superintendent," Mabley wrote.

Last week Price told the North Andover School Committee she would be leaving at the end of the school year to accept a position as headmaster of the private Buckingham Browne & Nichols school in Cambridge. Price had only been in the position since 2015, but recently signed a five-year contract, making her the first head of the North Andover School District to sign on for a second term.

"I know that my departure marks yet another transition in North Andover. However, I know that the School Committee is committed to maintaining the momentum we have created over the last two years," Price said in a letter to the school committee. "We are on a path, in collaboration with the town, that I am confident will continue to improve teaching and learning here in North Andover. I will work very hard this year to continue this progress and to ultimately help the next leader of this district transition into the role."
