North Andover Senior Tax Relief Program

The North Andover Council on Aging/Senior Center will accept applications for the fiscal year 2018 Senior Tax Relief Program.


Eligibility
To be eligible for this program you must:

  • Be at least 60 years of age
  • Own and occupy the property for which North Andover property taxes are paid
  • Meet the minimum skills required for the assigned position
  • Be able to start your assignment by September 5, 2017
  • Provide your own transportation to the job site
  • Must Complete 100 hours of work between September 5, 2017 and May 25, 2018. (Maximum work hours per week not to exceed 10 hours.)


Application process
In addition, you must do the following:

  1. Provide your most recent property tax bill
  2. Authorize CORI clearance (if needed)
  3. Complete I-9 Form (blank form is provided)
  4. Complete Parts A and B of the Senior Tax Relief Program application form
  5. Provide Government issued ID( Social Security Card and Driver’s License or Passport.


Application deadline
You must submit your application by Friday, July 14th, 2017 to be considered.

Selection of candidates
If there are more than 40 applicants for the Senior Tax Relief Program, selections will be made by lottery to be held on August 11th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Andover Senior Center.
If selected, you will be assigned as a volunteer to a position that matches your skills. Job placement may be in Town Hall, School Department, Senior Center, Stevens Memorial Library, Stevens Estate, Police Department, Fire Department, Veterans Office, Community Development and Building Department.
Benefit Limits
Participants will receive a $1000.00 maximum property tax abatement based on $10.00 per hour of service for a total of 100 hours completed by May 25th, 2018. This amount is considered taxable income. Medicare payment of approximately $10.00 will be deducted from your total property tax abatement.
