The Community Clinician of the Year award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community and who stands out as a leading caregiver. The Essex South District Medical Society, one of 20 district societies that are part of the Massachusetts Medical Society, has nearly 700 physician members who work or live in the communities of southern Essex County.

The award was presented April 1 at the organization’s annual meeting.
