Obituary: George E. Kettinger Jr.; Electrician, Received Journeyman's and Master's Electrical Licenses

He was a parishioner of St. Michael's Catholic Church in North Andover.

George E. Kettinger Jr. was taken from us at his home on January 6, 2015.

George was the eldest son of the late Isabel (Kirk) and George E. Kettinger Sr. He was born on May 24, 1935 in Lawrence, MA and raised in North Andover. He attended local schools and graduated from Johnson High School class of 1953. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Texas and Germany.

He was a lifelong resident of North Andover. He attended classes at Lowell Tech and Coyne Electric to receive his Journeyman’s and Master’s Electrical Licenses.

George was employed by Davis and Furber and retired after many years from Itek Burlington as an Electrician. In his retirement George worked for Vincent Electric and Holy Family Hospital. He was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in North Andover.

George and Joan enjoyed traveling with their dear friends Pat, Bob, Joan S. and Marion. He loved skiing, playing racquetball and bowling in his younger days. A golf course was one of his favorite places. He was a big football and baseball fan and routed for the Milwaukee Braves the former Boston Braves.

He is survived by his companion Joan Allen of Lowell, brothers Charles W. Kettinger and his wife Susan of Salem, NH, and Robert Kettinger and his wife Cheryl of North Andover, nephews, C. William Kettinger and his wife Mary-Kate, John Kettinger and his wife Megan and his niece Rebecca Burns and her husband Mark. Joan’s Nieces and nephews thought of George as an uncle as did his friends children. George was predeceased by his brother Arthur.

Family and friends may call on Thursday January 15th from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Conte Funeral Home 17 Third St. North Andover, MA 01845. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 16th at 10:00am at St. Michael’s Church in North Andover followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tewksbury.

Memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to the American Heart Association /American Stroke Association PO Box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
