Obituary: Helen Mary Copeland, Moved to North Andover in 1960

Helen Mary Copeland, age 96, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Prescott House in North Andover surrounded by her loving family. Helen was the beloved wife of the late, Paul Copeland, who passed away in 1995.

Helen was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to parents John and Madeline (Mogan) McCorry. Helen was raised and attended school in Somerville, Massachusetts.

After graduating high school, Helen, met her husband, Paul, while working at Hy-Sil in Revere. They were married on May 14, 1939 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Revere.

After Helen’s husband, Paul, returned from fighting in World War II, they started a family, having two children, Joyce and Stephen. Helen stayed at home to raise her children, first living in Malden, then moving to North Andover in 1960.

Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, knitting, doing word search puzzles, playing cards and always looked forward to her annual trip to Las Vegas.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Paul Copeland, her daughter, Joyce and her husband Douglas Ballard, her son, Stephen Copeland. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Spinelli and John McCorry, and also by her nephew, Gary McCorry.

Helen is survived by her granddaughter, Lisa Ballard, of Haverhill, her grandsons, Stephen Ballard, of North Andover, and Mark Ballard of Haverhill. Helen is also survived by her sister-in-law, Theresa McCorry and by her nieces and nephews, Robert Spinelli, Janet Conroy, Arlene Oliveri, Cheryl Albert, Donna Moynihan, Carol Amastos, John McCorry and Bruce McCorry.

A funeral service will be offered on Tuesday morning at 10 AM at the Conte Funeral Home 17 Third Street North Andover. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery also in North Andover.

Family and friends may call on Monday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
