Prosecution Rests Case In Fitzsimmons Trial; Defense Calls Witnesses
Kelsey Fitzsimmons, a police officer shot by a colleague last summer, has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Prosecutors rested their case Wednesday in the trial of Kelsey Fitzsimmons, according to WCVB 5-ABC. Fitzsimmons, 29, a North Andover police officer, was shot by another officer while being served a restraining order last summer.
The defense is now presenting witnesses of its own. Fitzsimmons took the stand in her own defense Wednesday, Boston 25 News reported.
Fitzsimmons has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. She is facing a bench trial in Lawrence District Court after waiving her right to a jury trial.

Officer Pat Noonan testified Monday that he shot Fitzsimmons during an incident at her home on June 30, 2025, according to CBS Boston. Fitzsimmons is accused of pulling her service gun and pointing it at Noonan.
However, Fitzsimmons said she intended to use the gun on herself in the midst of a mental health crisis. She has pleaded not guilty and said she never pointed the gun at police.

Police had gone to her home to serve her with a restraining order from her then-fiancé, Justin Aylaian, and to give him temporary custody of their four-month-old son, according to CBS Boston.
