Restaurants Saw Boon in Blackout

Local restaurants report big crowds last week.

In the aftermath of the worst October snowstorm on record and in the midst of a staggering power outages that left thousands in town without electricity for days, there was one local silver lining. Restaurants saw huge crowds and lots of money.

Several local restaurants are reporting that last Sunday and, in some cases Monday as well, crowds of people swarmed into their estrablishments because they had no electricity at home.

"We were slammed that Sunday night," Leslie Carlson, owner of said.

Employees at also reported having a huge dinner rush that lasted most of the evening that Sunday. Things were a lot quieter that Monday, though.

"We had a big crowd come in that Sunday night, with the power being out for a lot of people and the football game being on," Jaime Faria, owner of said. During the Patriots game that Sunday night, the restaurant was packed and there was standing room only at the bar.
