Scarlet Knights Crush Amesbury Indians

North Andover Scarlet Knights easily beat Amesbury in Friday's game at Langley Stadium.

North Andover High School got its game back Friday.

After an upsetting opening game loss to Andover the week before, the Scarlet Knights ventured to Amesbury's Langley Stadium and defeated the Indians 41-6.

"They did very well," North Andover Football Coach John Rafferty said. "They took advantage of the opportunity that was presented to them, and they did a good job executing the game plan."

North Andover's rampage started right at the opening kick-off, when a fumble by the Indians gave North Andover the ball at the 25-yard line. From then on, North Andover dominated the game, surging to a 40-0 lead early on and maintaining it until the final quarter.

"I think that fumble in the beginning set things off on the right course," Rafferty said.

Brandon Walsh was a star of the game. The junior, who had to sit out the first game, threw three touchdown passes -- two in the first quarter to David Foote and Joe Swanton and another to Swanton in the second. Foote had another touchdown in the second quarter as well.

As for whether Friday's massive victory was a good omen for things to come this season, Rafferty is remaining cautiously optimistic.

"Well it's one game at a time, but hopefully things work out like they did Friday," he said.
