State Police Urge Motorists to Use Caution on Slick Roadways
Leave extra time to get to work or school.
Slippery roads and sidewalks are making the Tuesday morning commute a nightmare for many motorists and pedestrians throughout Massachusetts.
Morning commuters are urged to be cautious of black ice on roadways and overall slippery conditions in many parts of the state, including northeastern and central Massachusetts, according to the Massachusetts State Police.
The worst hit areas in northeastern Massachusetts are north and west of Route 128.

Throughout the night troopers from the Andover, Concord, Newbury, and Danvers Barracks have been responding to numerous crashes and spinouts caused by icy roads, according to state police officials.
State police also reported several cruiser crashes this morning in that region as a result of hazardous road conditions.

Troopers have also been busy responding to crashes caused by icy roads in the southern part of Central Massachusetts, near the Rhode Island and Connecticut lines, as well as portions of Interstate 495 and Interstate 290 in the Worcester area.
Troopers in the Attleboro area also responded to multiple crashes earlier in the night but conditions have improved somewhat in that region.
Fewer dangerous road issues have been reported in western and coastal southeastern Massachusetts overnight.
Sanding crews are out but motorists are urged to use caution.
Motorists should drive well below normal speeds, leave extra space between themselves and cars ahead of them, and, as always, wear seatbelts, according to state police, and leave extra time to get to work or school.
Many schools have two-hour delays this morning.
