Tax Work Off Senior Application Available

Applications for the North Andover Senior Tax Relief Program are now available for pick-up at the North Andover Senior Center.  The application must be filled out completely and have all documentation required.     Applicant must be 60 years of age, own and occupy the property for which North Andover property taxes are paid and meet the minimum skill required for the assigned position.  Be able to start your assignment by September 2, 2014.   Provide your own transportation to the job site.  Chosen applicant must complete 90 hours of work between September 9, 2014 and May 29th 2015.  (Maximum work-hours per week not to exceed10 hours.) To be considered in the application process you must provide your most recent property tax bill. Completed W-4 and I-9 Forms, are provided in the packet. Complete application including Parts A and Part B and provide a government issued ID. Application must be returned to the Senior Center by 1:00 on Friday July 18, 2014, there are no exceptions. If there are more than 35 applicants selection will be made by lottery on August 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Andover Senior Center.  If selected you must be CORI cleared and then assigned as a volunteer to a position that matches your skills.  Opportunity for placement may be in the Town Hall, School Department, Senior Center, Stevens Memorial Library, Stevens Estate, Police Department, Fire Department, Veterans Office, Water Department, Community Development and Building Department.  Participants who complete all their 90 contracted hours by May 29th, 2015 (no exception) will receive $652.50 property tax abatement based on $7.25 per hour of service.  This amount is considered taxable income.  Medicare payment of approximately $10.00 will be deducted from your total tax abatement.
