So, you’re having a shower…whether it’s a bride to be or a new baby, showers are always an exciting event. If you’re the mom or a best friend hosting the party there are a few things that will make the event a memorable one for your guests, and make you look like a star! Favors are a tradition that gives the guest a little something to take home and remember what a great time she had. I have seen fresh new ideas and some traditional ones in my years of serving and hosting such events (three pastel sugar coated almonds in a net…does anyone eat those things?)
I have been to a bridal shower where the mother of the bride-to-be planned months in advance to take cuttings from her garden and place them in hand painted pots (Christmas Tree Shop, Pier 1 or even Marshalls) to give to the ladies. I once hosted a party with a “Teddy Bear” theme for a mom to be, and surrounded a Vermont Teddy Bear with white and dark Chocolate lollipops tied with pink, blue and white satin ribbons on a white tablecloth as the main centerpiece, beautiful! In the days of Pinterest there is no lack of ideas, but remember the KISS rule- (keep it simple, stupid) and don’t spend a lifetime on favors, there is so much more to do to make the event run smoothly. Having an extra hand to help in the kitchen, fill a champagne glass or remove a used plate is worth its weight in gold! Imagine all that planning, shopping and running around, then on your special day to be able to sit back, have a cocktail or a cold glass of iced tea and actually chat with your guests, now that’s a treat. I will be back with more on hosting the perfect party soon. Thanks for reading!
