A tornado watch is now in effect until 11 Tuesday night for most of southern New England, according to the National Weather Service.The tornado watch was issued just before 4 this afternoon, and includes Essex, Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, Nantucket, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk and Worcester counties.For most of the day, much of the state has been under a severe thunderstorm watch for Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. Forecasters say conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to spawn tornadoes.Heavy downpours, winds with gusts up to 70 miles per hour and frequent lightning is expected with these storms, which are now prompting the tornado watch.
