UPDATED: Three Elderly Men Killed in Triple Homicide; One Man in Custody

North Andover Police Chief Paul J. Gallagher assured the community that they are safe.

Three elderly men were found dead of apparent blunt force trauma this morning in an elderly housing unit at 10 Foulds Drive, North Andover, Mass., according to Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.

The victims are Walter Hamilton, 78, George Kettinger Jr., 79, and a 68-year-old man whose name is being withheld pending notification of his family, according to the Essex District Attorney’s office.

All three men lived in a two-story,four-unit building in the elderly/handicapped complex on Foulds Drive. All three victims were found separately in their own units, according to authorities, victims of blunt force trauma, mostly to their facial areas.

The man who lived in the fourth unit in the building, Salvatore Guglielmino, 57, was taken into police custody on Tuesday morning, and will be arraigned on murder charges on Wednesday morning in Lawrence District Court, according to Blodgett.

Police received a 911 call at 9:07 Tuesday morning reporting a man who was found face down, according to authorities. Blodgett said at a press conference held in North Andover on Tuesday afternoon, that all three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. He said the state medical examiner would determine the cause and manner of death.

Blodgett would not comment on the specifics on where the suspect was found, or his arrest.

North Andover Paul J Gallagher assured the community that they are safe. Meetings will be set up for residents of the housing complex.

Blodgett, who called the crime “horrific,” would not comment on a possible motive. He said Guglielmino had no recent history with North Andover Police.

The North Andover Housing Authority owns and manages 297 income based rental units of public housing in North Andover, including 52 elderly/handicapped units on Foulds Terrace. The 52- unit elderly/handicapped housing development is located off Route 125.

An active police investigation is ongoing by North Andover Police and Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Essex District Attorney’s office.
