Vehicles Not Stuck in the Mud after Successful Fishing Expedition in Andover

Clean River Project fished seven vehicles out of the Merrimack River

Wednesday was a really good day for Rocky Morrison, founder and president, of Clean River Project: Seven vehicles were fished out of a large section of the Merrimack River in Andover.

“A lot of people in Andover don’t realize that the drinking water comes from this river,” Morrison said. He was especially pleased to report that the fishing expedition was successful, except for one car that is still stuck in the muddy river. “It was getting dark; we’ll be back for that one next week.”

Four people from Clean River Project, two divers and Cody’s tow company worked all day to drag the illegally dumped vehicles up and out of the river. A trooper ran the plates once the vehicles were out of the water. The vehicles pulled out of the river on Wednesday had been reported stolen in the past.

“We pulled out a 2007 SUV Isuzu,” Morrison said. “It was a nice-looking vehicle at one time.”

Morrison said the river cleanup will continue next week.
