VeraniCARES Collecting Food/Monetary Donations for Lazarus House

VeraniCARES Collecting Non-Perishable Food Items and Money to Aide Andover, North Andover, and Lawrence Residents Affected by Gas Explosions

Never one to shy away from jumping in and lending a helping hand, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty and its coveted team thrive off of being good neighbors, especially when the neighbors are in a state of need. In response to the recent gas line explosions that have affected nearly 40 homes throughout the Merrimack Valley – directly impacting the towns of Andover, North Andover, and Lawrence – Verani, who has an office location in North Andover, has taken up a food and monetary collection to aid the community in need.

On top of this, Verani and its team of agents has reached out to their family of clients, as well as fellow brokers to assist alongside them by volunteering in-the-flesh at Lazarus House, located in Lawrence.

Since opening its doors as an emergency homeless shelter in 1983, Lazarus House has been breaking the cycle of poverty in the Merrimack Valley region. Their food and clothing programs assist families in need, such as the ones stricken by this recent disaster. Lazarus House also offers housing, providing a safe haven for homeless families and individuals. For more information visit: www.lazarushouse.org.

“We wanted to do something for the area residents that were negatively affected by the recent developments,” said Verani Regional Manager, Charlie Zappala. ”We struck up an initial conversation with Lazarus House who are currently supplementing over 900 residents groceries – a number that has increased based on what has happened in our communities. If you need help all you have to do is ask and they are there. So, we felt it was best to be there for them and to lend a helping hand and assist them in their invaluable community-first efforts.”

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty is also extending their annual VeraniCARES food drive through October 31stto benefit the Lazarus House and will be setting up a tent with our VeraniCARES Bear in front of their North Andover office to accept food donations.

The company’s agents have also been donating portions of their commissions to VeraniCARES, and through that giving, were able to donate $5,000 to Lazarus House.

“We are hoping that if people can't donate food, maybe they can help with a cash donation,” said Zappala. “Who knows maybe we could make the total donation $10,000!”
