Last week The Highland Street Foundation kicked off its annual “Free Fun Fridays” initiative, a summer program that opens doors to treasured cultural institutions on Fridays throughout Massachusetts at no cost to visitors. A total of 67 museums and cultural venues will participate in the program, an increase from the 60 venues that participated in 2013. This week’s venues feature an eclectic mix that is sure to have something for everyone. “Free Fun Fridays” is open to patrons of all ages and incomes. Since being established in 2009, “Free Fun Fridays” has drawn more than half a million visitors to its participating venues. Last year, the event saw 165,000 visitors. This year, the Foundation hopes to reach more than 200,000 visitors.
