Wintry Mix Could Cause Treacherous Road Conditions This Weekend

Snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain are in the forecast.

A wintry mix could make for difficult driving on Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Snow should start falling in Massachusetts on Saturday evening, but the precipitation is expected to change over to sleet, freezing rain and rain overnight and Sunday morning for most of Greater Boston.

The National Weather Service said the cold ground should make the snow stick before the changeover and Saturday night commuting could be difficult. Traveling could be a problem on Sunday morning because of icy road conditions.

The changeover from snow is expected to first happen along the coast where less than an inch of snow is expected on Saturday night. Inland communities may get 1 to 2 inches of snow before the changeover.
