80's Dance Party Benefits Cradles to Crayons

Time for mini skirts, big hair and 80's dance music to support first time Boston Marathon runner's charity choice. It happens on March 24th.

First time Boston Marathon runner Jennifer Lacasse is holding an 80's Dance Party fundraiser to benefit her charity of choice - Cradles to Crayons. The event will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 7 pm - 11 pm at the Knights of Columbus located at 17 Willow St. in Westborough.

Tickets are being sold in advance for $20 and can be obtained by emailing Jennifer at jalacasse@gmail.com or can be purchased at the door for $25.

Appetizers, desserts, cash bar and a 50/50 raffle along with great dance hits of the 80's will highlight the evening for ages 21+ only.

Lacasse has been a runner for a few years but it wasn't until she volunteered at Cradles to Crayons and saw what an amazing organization they were that she decided to train for a marathon and fundraise for the organization.

Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth to age 12, living in low- income and homeless situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. They supply these items free of charge to communities with need.

"I fell in love with everything they do," Lacasse said. "Having three kids of my own, I can't imagine them not being able to have the essential items they need. If I can make a small difference in a child's life, then I'll do whatever I can to help."

Her fundraising goal is $7,500, which will benefit 225 children in need. She is currently about halfway to her goal.

Due to the mild weather this winter, Lacasse has only had to recently take her long runs to the treadmill due to snow.

"This year, the winter weather has been fantastic," she said.

Training for a marathon is a huge time commitment, especially when you are a mom of three small kids.

"I wouldn't be able to do it without the support of my amazing husband," Lacasse said. "Now with my long runs taking almost 3 hours, it is a challenge to find the time. Finding that time and training properly will make the race that much easier, and I know it will be worth it in the end. "

Donations are also being accepted on line at this link.
