After 2 days of stormy weather, with thunder and lightning, it was refreshing to smell the fresh air. Storms have a way of making the air clean. They make your gardens grow and have been known to make your lawn look like a jungle. But still, who doesn't like to venture out of their homes and take a nice quiet walk around the neighborhood and breathe in the cool air?

I for one love the rain and the changes it brings. I love to go for a walk to see the greens that have turned greener, the flowers that have advertised their beauty for all to see, and to just be out of the house and enjoying the peaceful walk.
But… now this is not surprising…because after the word “but” one can expect something else will follow and in this case we will follow “but” with mosquitoes! Just when you think you have endured the invasion of the May Flies which show up in May, of course, and June, then comes the Mosquitoes with their luggage in July.

If you hit it right, time wise, you can generally make it around the block and back before the fierce-some flying biters hit the air that surrounds you on your walk. Now I am not one to be too fussy about what lands on me, but mosquitoes do not have landing permits to or on my body. They try to sneak in a few emergency landings but in doing so they have to scrap their flying gear because if smacked by my strongest arm, they would now be rendered “inoperable.”
Still after a rain storm, who doesn't like to go out for a walk? And because I do enjoy walking in or after the rain, I try to schedule my walks for when the mosquitoes are having a siesta!
What about you? Are you apt to be bothered by mosquitoes when out enjoying your walks after a rains-storm? If so, what do you do to keep the uninvited guest from crashing your party? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst
A Walk to the Park
I started out to take a walk to the park;
It was getting dark…
There was a light breeze,
And all was well until the mosquitoes started attacking me!
I kept walking, trying to convince my mind that they were not bothersome,
But I just couldn't reason,
Because after smacking the third one off my arm,
I must say I was getting alarmed.
Still, I ignored the itching
And was enjoying my walk as I tried hard to make myself believe,
But I was overcome by the constant itching
That to enjoy my walk I was going to have to find some relief.
So I turned myself around and headed for home,
Hurrying through the area where the mosquitoes roamed;
I bravely fought my way through clouds of these tiny biting insects,
I was happy to once again be safely behind closed doors as you would expect.
No more will I dare to take walks at night,
If I am going to have to put up such a fight.
I’ll just stay home from now on,
Until summer is has ended and the Mosquitoes seek warmer weather somewhere else and move along.
