Boston Post Road Markers

This “33 Miles to Boston” stone mileage marker was one of many installed in the 1760’s along the “Upper Boston Post Road.”  It is located near 142 East Main Street.  This Post Road ran from Boston to New York City via Marlborough, Worcester, Springfield, Hartford and New Haven.  The markers were used to calculate postal delivery fees.  This year a new historic marker was placed in Northborough Center.  It contains additional information regarding the Post Road.
