The oldest burial ground in Northborough is hiding in plain sight on Brigham Street near the intersection of South Street (RT135). It is a 3 acre lot that was used between 1728 and 1749. The burials were primarily of the colonists living in Westborough’s “North Precinct” (now Northborough). Although there are only a few headstones remaining, it is believed that some 50 to 70 burials may be present. Within the past several months the remaining headstones were cleaned and reset as part of a Community Preservation Act funded project. A local genealogist (Beth Finch-McCarthy) has taken a particular interest in determining who is buried in the unmarked graves.
