
Edward "Ted" V. Nichols of Northborough died Jan. 1 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He leaves his children, Ken and his wife Susan Nichols of Northborough and Amy Williams of Taunton; five grandchildren: Erik, David and Valerie Williams, Brendan and Patrick Nichols; a great-grandson, Jackson Williams; two sisters, Nicki King of Columbus, OH and Josephine Nichols of NYC; five nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Marti.
Born in Madurai, India, he was the son of Edward G. and Grace (Vining) Nichols. He raised his family in Foxborough, lived in Leesburg, Florida for 11 years and moved to Northborough in 2005. Nichols attended Kodaikanal International School in India. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Boston University with a degree in journalism and became an editor for the Foxboro Company and Honeywell. He worked in the Town of Foxborough Schools until his retirement and then volunteered as a tutor in elementary schools in Florida and Northborough. Nichols was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church.
