Former Northborough Police Sergeant Retires From State Police

NORTHBOROUGH, MA — A former Northborough police sergeant has retired after a law enforcement career spanning more than three decades.

Massachusetts State Police Lt. Patrick McStay has retired, the Northborough Police Department announced on Friday. McStay served in Northborough for 13 years before joining the State Police.

McStay left the Northborough department as a sergeant in April 2006, according to the town’s 2006 annual report. Officer Joseph Galvin was promoted to replace him.

McStay later served as a law enforcement representative on the state’s Commonwealth Security Trust Fund, according to a 2022 meeting notice from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.

Northborough police remembered McStay for his leadership, kindness and friendship.

“Enjoy your well-deserved retirement Lt.,” the department said.
