Former Town Clerk Remembered Fondly
Adele Beatty, former town clerk, died on Tuesday, and is remembered by the present clerk.

Adele Beatty lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 21. Beatty moved to Northborough in 1968 and served as the Town Clerk from 1990 to 2006.
Andrew Dowd, who is now the Northborough town clerk, knew Beatty well and remembers her fondly.
"She was a great lady," said Dowd. "Several years ago, when I was short staffed, Adele came in and volunteered to help, donating her time back to the town that she loved."

Dowd said Beatty also worked town elections, volunteering her time at polling stations, and also helped out at town meeting.
"Adele was always full of life, exuberant and passionate about the things she cared about," he said. "She was funloving and classy. I was privileged to have known her and she will be missed."

Adele L. (Carmichael) Beatty, 69, lost her battle to cancer on June 21.
She leaves behind her two sons Geoff and Scott Kelly of Northborough; 3 grandchildren, Ryan Kelly, Timothy Kelly, Scotty Kelly of Clinton, MA; 2 brothers, Trent and Walt Carmichael of California; former husbands, Larry Beatty of Northborough, Dan Kelly of Nashua, New Hampshire. Born and raised in San Francisco, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Josephine (Fowler) Carmichael. She attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo campus in 1958.
Adele moved to Massachusetts in 1964, and settled in Northborough in 1968. From 1990- 2006 she worked as the Northborough Town Clerk. She enjoyed vacationing in Maui and Orrs Island, ME. Adele was a member of Trinity Church and choir. In addition, she belonged to the Women’s Auxiliary, Vincent F. Picard American Legion Post #234. She was an avid Boston sports fan, enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and had a deep appreciation for the San Francisco 49er’s, her hometown. Adele was an animal lover and was especially fond of Bichon Frise dogs.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday June 23, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA. Adele’s memorial service will be held on Friday June 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Church, 23 Main Street, Northborough, MA. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
