Thought and Poem
I think we should declare a holiday specifically to reward ourselves for making it through life as far as we have and lived to tell about it!
From the moment we are born we start facing the fact that life is going to be somewhat of a struggle. We have just been freed from our watery home where we had everything we needed. After our birth we now find we may cry for hours to get someone to help us get these same needs.
As we grow and mature in life we struggle to keep control of our toys. We have to struggle as we endure our school years, find jobs to support ourselves, get married and have families of our own and struggle with all the things they do that we put our parents through.
Add to this the continuing cost of living with all it’s bills and we we will age more and then have to struggle with increase medical problems and our inability to do even the elementary things we mastered as toddlers. Then after all these years of struggles we sit in our homes wondering what happened to us! Yes...now would be a good time to celebrate that special holiday...who is with me?

A Holiday Please...
I want a holiday and I want it now
To celebrate all I have endured in life to this point somehow.
I feel I deserve this opportunity;
It has been a long time coming.
There doesn’t have to be any cake or ice cream
Or any extravagant parties.
For all I have endured in life so far I will say
A padded room with a rocking chair and a view will be all that is needed for me to enjoy this holiday.
