We all have high expectations of how we would like our lives to turn out. We all have dreams and would like these to be fulfilled. And then we all wish that we could have a “little” more than what we have at present. It seems if we had all of these, we should be happy right?
Everyone has their own ideas about what will bring them happiness. But in reality, is it really the fact that we fulfill our goals, or have that little extra that truly satisfies a person?

As I look back on the years I have lived, it doesn’t take me long to realize that it wasn’t success in the workplace, or more money, or my dreams that truly made me happy. I won’t deny that these did not help in any way because they did. But I found even greater value in the “little” things that helped me along the way to endure my everyday situations. I am not surprised to note that getting through some of these days were not tough…they were. But I am here today because I did look toward the hope and faith that there are better days coming for me…for all of us.
I have come to appreciate that I should never expect anything but to value what I do get; whether it is someone’s love, and understanding, or a good bargain at the store, or even if I can get out of bed and do the things I have to do each day. Ah, yes, the “little” things are really what get us where we our today's.

Poem: “It is the Little Things”
Many people reach for the stars and want the good life,
But it is the little things that come our way that remind us of what is important and of the “real” life for us not to lose sight.
Yes, more money would be nice, as we can always use more,
But to be able to make it through each day means much more to me for sure.
Setting goals for the days to come,
Is something we all need to do and I think everyone,
Should make a plan of how they will succeed,
When surviving becomes a daily need.
Money, fame and travels will not balance the scales,
When we brace ourselves to do what we can and keep pace
And most of what we will need to get through each day,
Is a strong foundation based on hope, an abundance of love and a lot of faith?
Without these, enduring our lives will be hard to get through,
We need to build up our supplies; I am doing this…are you?
Because when we reach for the stars so as to have a good life,
It will be the little things that will help us put up a hard fight.
