"Memories"

Thought:

Every now and then, we all like to sit down and look at old photographs.  Whether they are in a frame hanging on the walls of our home, in an album that we created to hand down to our family at some point, or just so that we will have them to look at from time to time to cherish memories of the olden days, pictures are pictures and they can be worth a thousand words.

You could write a book from just looking at one picture of yourself from your yesterdays.  Oh, I do know this is true, because I did just that!  One the picture set off the “domino effect” and opened the floodgates to my past that I had long tucked away somewhere in the vaults of my mind.

It is also interesting to note the changes that have taken place in our lives as we look at ourselves yesterday and compare it to what we see today.  I can bet that many of the memories created from looking at old pictures can tell the story of the life journeys we have taken and what we gained from each path we have taken.

For myself, I noted that today I have more strength and courage than I did back then, and that I am able to tell others how I feel and not allow  their opinions to keep me from being who I want to be…ME!  As I look at other pictures I meditate on what I gleaned from experiences I have had in my life and can honestly say that each picture reminds me of a different story I have to tell and how without the memories that come from looking at old photographs, I would not take the time to be thankful for lessons learned that got me to where I am today.

Poem:  “Memories:

Memories of a picture taken, was shown to me,

One I was told that I just had to see,

That was taken so very long ago,

Of a child that was once young and now has grown old.

It is hard to believe at times how things use to be,

As everything had changed, yet I could clearly see,

The memories of what it was like back then,

Now stood before me in a picture frame and I lived the moment once again.

It is kind of funny how different we see things today,

But don’t remember them as they were yesterday.

As time has passed by and from those moments we had moved on,

But a simple picture in a picture frame saved the memories of what was before and somehow now is gone.
