The proposed bill will establish a protocol as well as rules and regulations for the creation of regional 911 emergency communication districts. Each municipality or city may create a committee for accessing the need and financial ramifications of establishing a regional emergency communication district.
“This law is a tremendous asset to public safety officials in communities throughout the Commonwealth,” said Representative Naughton. “Through establishing rules and regulations, this legislation provides the necessary framework for cities and towns to collaborate on creating emergency response districts. In addition, this legislation allows individual communities the opportunities to establish a network based on the specific needs of their region as well as the ability to stay up to date on advancing technologies.”
