Questions we can't answer...

Thought and Poem

Thought and Poem – March 4, 2015

How many times during your lifetime, did you have questions and their answers were not immediately to be found? I know that during the challenges I faced in my life, that many times I had questions but had to wait, sometimes years to learn their answers.

I questioned the goals I would have, the roads I would travel, and when I had children of my own, I wondered with zillions of questions bouncing in my head(s) if like my parents before me, I would make many mistakes.

Yet, even though we don’t always have the answers we are looking for and when we want them, it does not hold us back from continuing on our life’s path. We take one day at a time, crossing the bridges when we get to them, climbing mountains when we stand before them, and we do what we have to, to hurdle over these as we journey on in each day of our life.

However, we are not left in a lurch. Life experiences give us tool we can use to help us through. We gain skills in abundance that we can pass on to others to help make their lives easier than ours had been, even when we did not always have the answers to questions we may have been asking.

Questions We Can’t Answer

Questions we can’t answer,

Should not stop us from engaging in life,

Because even if we feel we don’t have all the answers we need,

We know enough about life that put the lessons to good use; they will help us to succeed.

We know from the moment we are born, after we are given to our mothers and fathers so gently,

What security and contentment comes from being placed near their hearts almost right after delivery.

Then we see the sweat and determination it takes to guide a child through the early parts of their life,

Because most parents make it their goal to do the best they can to provide for their child, with all their might.

And then there are the hugs and the discipline that only one who loves their child will dare not spare,

That will draw a child to their parents; when then need support, and they can go to them without fear.

Then as they age and go through the different stages in their lives, our guidance will help them to develop into the person they were meant to be,

While we patiently stand back and watch it all, we see the results from all our hard work and know that we had “done well,” and all so lovingly.

Even though we did not know from the first day of their lives what each day would bring,

Questions about their future, their goals, the roads they would take, the answers in time, we would eventually see.

In the meantime, we believed that love would help us to get through, even when we did not have the answers…to the questions as to what we should do,

Whatever challenges life threw at us, this same love would help us to endure all our trials and help to power us through.
