Rep. Naughton Deployed to Southwest Asia for 5 Months

Rep. Naughton was called to duty in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Harold P. Naughton, Jr., State Representative for the 12th Worcester District, House Chairman of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security, and member of the U.S. Army Reserve, received orders placing him on active duty and ordering him to deploy for military service in Southwest Asia on Friday, June 26, according to an announcement.

Naughton will serve as a legal advisor to the Task Force within the U.S. Central Command and will work within an operational security unit with missions throughout the operational areas of Operations Inherent Resolve and Operation Enduring Freedom. His deployment is scheduled to last approximately five months.

“As always, it is an honor to serve. In my absence, I am confident that my legislative office will remain well managed and continue to maintain our excellent level of constituent services,” said Rep. Naughton in a release. “I anticipate that all of the needs of the 12th Worcester District will be met and the work on the Joint Committee will continue without interruption. Ongoing projects within the District will proceed as expected. I have the utmost faith in my staff to be able to accomplish all tasks put before them. During my time overseas I anticipate that I will have substantial communication with family, friends and staff on a daily basis through the internet and frequent phone calls. The residents of Berlin, Boylston, Clinton, Lancaster, Northborough and Sterling should feel free to continue to call upon my office for services. My family and I would like to sincerely thank our friends, colleagues, and constituents for your continued prayers, support and patience during this time.”

This is Representative Naughton’s third deployment with the U.S. Army Reserve. After joining the Reserve following 9/11 Naughton served a tour of active duty in Kuwait and Iraq with the Multi-National Force Iraq from September 2005 to May 2006. Naughton served with the 4th Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team from Oct. 2011 to May 2012, in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He is currently a Major in the Army Reserve.
