Trash Catches Fire at EL Harvey Building

Crews responded on Tuesday morning to a garage fire.

Firefighters received a 911 call at 5:27 a.m. for a fire at 68 Hopkinton Road, a building used by EL Harvey & Sons

Arriving a few minutes later, the building fire showed smoke from “building three.” Both Westborough and Northborough’s fire departments responded.

The building is a commercial garage about 100 feet wide by 200 feet long, and was full of trash, said Westborough Fire Chief Patrick Purcell.

“This trash was removed after extinguishment by heavy equipment operators employed by EL Harvey’s and overhauled by firefighters,” said Chief Purcell. “Firefighters did a great job to limit damage to the structure and contain the fire primarily to the trash pile itself.”

The scene was cleared by 10:14 a.m., and there were no injuries.
