When Sleep Doesn't Come...

Thought and Poem

Thought and Poem

Oh dear...I am having trouble falling asleep again. Right now I am in bed thinking of all the things I could be doing that doesn’t make any noise so I won’t disturb the rest of the household and I realize...I am already doing this...NOTHING!

Then I got a little devious and started thinking, “why do I have to be quiet?’ What would be so wrong if I should decide to run the vacuum or bang on a few pots or pans? Then I figured why bother...they would probably sleep through it and I would eat up energy I would need to stay awake later during the day.

What about you? When you have one if your sleepless nights what do you do to get through the night? Share your thoughts with us...Jeanne Claire Probst

When Sleep doesn’t come...

What do you do when you can’t sleep?
When you all you do is toss and turn between the sheets?
When all you want to do is close your eyes...
And you just lay there in the dark waiting as the clock on your bed stand ticks as it keeps the time.

There is not a whole lot a person can do...
Except to again power through...
And find something to occupy their mind...
Such as counting sheep as they go by one at a time.

For me...
I might try writing something...
A poem, a thought or a story...
It helps to pass the hours I should have been snoozing.
But I am learning that when sleep does not come...
Writing is good and it keeps me from being lonesome.

When.everyone in the house is asleep...
Honestly I might get jealous and think bad thoughts to some degree...
As I have often wondered what would happen if I should scream at the top of my lungs to awaken those who are asleep...
So they could now be awake and keep me company.

Oh dear...please let me close my eyes...
Before the sun appears in the sky...
That I might “look” somewhat normal later as I partake of the new day.
Just because I was sleepless during the night; like it or not...I will have to stay awake!
