• North Reading Fire Department Expanding With 4 New Firefighters (patch.com) — North Reading residents can expect stronger fire and emergency coverage as the town uses nearly $1.6 million in combined federal and local funding to hire four new firefighters. With one firefighter added to each shift, the department will reach eight per shift, helping meet national staffing and response standards and capping several years of steady growth in local fire services.
