Apple Festival on Saturday

Entertainment, children's games, tours and apples are on tap.

One of the highlights on the North Reading calendar is on Saturday.

The North Reading Historical and Antiquarian Society’s Apple Festival is back at the Putnam House grounds, 27 Bow St. The event is from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. (The rain date is on Sunday, Sept. 21.)

The annual fall event includes an apple pie contest, an art raffle, a silent art auction, artisans and crafters, town souvenirs, children’s games, pony rides, food and drinks, entertainment and tours of North Reading’s historic buildings.

The Putnam House will be open as well as the historic structures on the Putnam House’s grounds.

You’ll also get a chance to check out the new Farm Museum on the grounds. The new building by the North Reading Minitmen will highlight the town’s agricultural past.

The Damon Tavern will also be open for tours where you can see the old inn bedrooms and the Rufus Porter Ballroom.
