Lori Mitchener, North Reading resident and Boston Marathon runner, was spotted crossing town this morning on her post-marathon shake-out run. Clearly affected by the events of the day, she was wearing her marathon bib and carrying an American flag. Cars honked and people waved, honoring her strength and paying tribute to those killed or injured in yesterday's horrible events.
Mitchener, who was running the marathon again this year finished the race only minutes before explosions rocked the finish line area. Evidently shaken by the events, she said this morning that she feared she had lost her mother who was watching her complete the race. Fortunately, both are well.
Clearly Mitchener’s spirit is unbroken and she’s not done supporting her community and her race. But we still think she should have a rest day.
