Community Impact Team Offers Strong Families, Resilient Kids Program
40 Developmental Assets build strong kids

The North Reading Community Impact Team has announced that it will offer a relaunch of the Strong Families, Resilient Kids 40 Assets program starting in April. Drug-Free Communities Grant Director Amy Luckiewicz explained, “This was a program we started to share back in early 2020 before the pandemic and it was halted for obvious reasons.” She added, “We can’t wait to get back at sharing this program in North Reading.”
Based on the 40 Developmental Assets program by the Search Institute, instructors will review the science-based positive assets that help youth resist high-risk behaviors. According to the Search Institute, “Search Institute has identified 40 positive supports and strengths that young people need to succeed. Half of the assets focus on the relationships and opportunities they need in their families, schools, and communities (external assets). The remaining assets focus on the social-emotional strengths, values, and commitments that are nurtured within young people (internal assets).”

The workshops will be facilitated by Luckiewicz and Substance Use/Mental Health Clinician Laura Miranda. Miranda noted, “Caregivers of all kinds are welcome to attend. If you have any kids in your life, as a parent, coach, grandparent, or even neighbor, we encourage you to come.”
