EarlyAct Club Visits North Reading Rotary

Students in grades 3-5 presented a year-in-review to their adult sponsors.

Six students from the North Reading Community EarlyAct Club visited the North Reading Rotary Club this week. Greeting the Rotarians, the students shook hands and introduced themselves. Rotarian Janice Wood commented, "They did a great job looking us in the eye!" The presentation was a year-in-review of the projects and highlights the students have completed so far including: making and delivering hot chocolate kits to the volunteers at the food pantry, making book marks for the local librarians, stuffing Easter eggs for food pantry clients, and more. The students also noted some guests speaker highlights including local Selectmen, volunteers, and even Lydia the therapy dog. The children also noted that they love getting correspondence in the mail. Rotarian Dave O'Neil also congratulated the students on practicing their public speaking skills and preparation, noting, "This will help you far into the future. Stick with it."

The club is designed for students grades 3-5, representing all schools in North Reading. Based on a Rotary International model, the projects and meetings focus on the values of gratitude, community, leadership, commitment, and inclusion. The club meets twice per month to plan and implement a local or international humanitarian project. North Reading also has an EarlyAct Club for Middle School and a high school Interact Club.
