Elizabeth Bussey Passes Away

Longtime North Reading resident worked more than 20 years at Phillips Academy in Andover.

Elizabeth E. (Roberts) Bussey, 88, of Londonderry, NH and formerly of North Reading for many years, died Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Bussey and the late James Delmonico.

Born in Boston, MA on April 14, 1930. She was the daughter of the late James J. and Mary (Galvin) Roberts. Elizabeth worked for more than 20 years at Phillips Academy in Andover, rising to Associate Director of Human Resources.

She was a gifted listener, who touched everyone’s life around her. She was an avid reader and had immeasurable strength in caring for her children and grandchildren. She was often referred as a “saint” all while earning her way through business school.

Elizabeth loved crafts and amateur theatre at the North Shore Music Theatre. She was also a co-author with her brother William.

Family members include her loving sons, Michael E. Bussey and his wife Lisa, Kenneth L. Bussey, James J. Bussey and the late Daniel Bussey; her daughter, Kathleen M. Doucette and her husband John; her brother, William Roberts and his wife Josephine and her late sister, Kathleen Roberts; grandchildren, Kimberly S. Doucette, Troy J. Doucette and wife Robyn, Jesse R. Doucette, Colleen, Matthew and his wife Nicole, Rachel and Victoria Bussey, Kenneth Powers, Patrick and Monique Bussey; great grandchildren, Kenneth Perez, Ryen Bussey, Jackson Tymann, Hailey Puffer and James Powers and the late Damien Doucette.

Her funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street (Rt. 62), North Reading. Calling hours will held on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
