Farmers Market and Flint Library Join in Scavenger Hunt

Exchange beads for hours in library's Summer Reading program.

A release from our friends at the North Reading Farmers Market:

In a fun twist on the North Reading Farmers Market this year, a Scavenger Hunt is being done in collaboration with Flint Library Children's Department. When a young reader picks up a ticket at the Community Booth in the Farmers Market every Wednesday (3:30 to 7 p.m.), she or he can redeem it at the Library for a bead to add to necklaces the Library is giving out for hours of reading this summer. The Summer Reading program at the Library started June 25.

Beads given at the Farmers Market at Ipswich River Park will be worth 15 minutes of reading and come in a variety of colors. More complex beads with different textures will be given at the library for one hour of reading. And for two hours of reading, beads with shapes of flowers, cars, dinosaurs and other shapes are the rewards.

Four 15-minute beads can be traded in for a one-hour bead. Only one bead per week will be given to each participant at the Farmers Market.

Many of the favorite vendors from past years are returning to the Market this year: Arrowhead Farm, Farmer Dave, Honey Pot Maple Farm, and many more. The Farmers Market will open an hour or so before the BBQ and concerts, which started May 27.
