Firefighters Extinguish Fire on Hickory Lane

North Reading firefighters extinguished a cellar fire on Hickory Lane on Sunday evening.

Two engines and a ladder responded to the call shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday. Engine 1 arrived and found light smoke at 3 Hickory Lane. They stretched an attack line to the basement and extinguished the fire, said North Reading Fire Chief William Warnock.

Firefighters found the fire started in a washing machine and they were able to keep the fire to that area.

There were no reported injuries and the people at the home were temporarily displaced, but they are now back home, said Warnock.
