UPDATE: Hazmat Situation in North Reading

Emergency crews responded to incident on Main Street on Sunday night.

Emergency crews responded to a Hazmat situation in the area of Main Street at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday night, according to Fire Chief William Warnock.

According to reports, the incident involved a car occupied by one woman and containing chemicals that may have been dumped in the car.

The District 6 Hazmat Team was called to the scene for the incident, while the North Reading Fire Department secured the area.

Emergency personnel removed the woman from the car, and she was alert and conscious at the time, according to Warnock. He said she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Warnock said that during the incident, there was no danger of any dangerous levels of chemicals harming anyone and that the situation was quickly remedied.
