Hurricane Joaquin Dodges New England; Threatens Bermuda
Sunny skies in the forecast for later this week as Hurricane Joaquin continues to track to the northeast.

Hurricane Joaquin was bearing down on Bermuda early Sunday morning, but most of the East Coast was breathing a sigh of relief.
The storm’s track pulled it away from having much of a major impact on New England, although there is still the possibility of some high surf and rip tides along the coast over the next day.
A hurricane warning was issued for Bermuda, where the storm was expected to hit on Sunday as a Category 2 storm

While the hurricane missed hitting the United States directly, officials are just beginning to measure the devastation the storm wreaked on the Bahamas.
There were reports of several smaller islands in the Bahamas obliterated, with roofs flying off homes and massive flooding, according to Weather.com.

In the United States, Joaquin had the biggest impact on the Southeast, especially South Carolina, where historic amounts of rain -from a foot to 16 inches in some places - fell.
In New England, the forecast calls for cloudy and breezy conditions over most of the region, with sun and warmer temperatures returning early in the week.
