John Braga Highlights Track and Field Performances
The North Reading athlete snagged a first place and two fourth place finishes at last week's event.
While many North Reading athletes are preparing to kick off their playoff action next week, one group of Hornets already found postseason success.
North Reading was among the track and field teams to participate in the Division 4 meet on February 15, and the boys and girls teams each scored points to climb past opponents in the standings.
The boys team put together the best performance of the two, jolting up to sixth place on the day with 24 points. The Lady Hornets, meanwhile, scored eight points to grab a 21st place finish out of 42 teams.

Individually, John Braga was the highlight of the day for the Hornets when he won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.12 seconds. Braga also snagged a fourth place finish in the high jump and fourth in the long jump.
Cole Godzinski was ninth in the girls 55-meter hurdles, while Emily Murray hurled her way to second place in the shot put.

North Reading’s top relay performance of the day came from the boys 4x800 meter team, which snagged a fifth place finish with a time of 8:37.88. The team is made up of Tyler Reiss, Adam Sapp, Dan Coveney and Jake O’Connell.
Cameron Hastings, Braga, Michael Bitto and Blake Tamlyn-Hayden ran the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:43.64, good for 11th place. Riley Warnock, Jake Intorcio, Ryan McAneny and Tamlyn-Hayden ran a 1:40.22 for 19th place in the 4x200 meter relay.
For the Lady Hornets, the girls 4x400 meter relay team of Kerri-Ann Donovan, Godzinski, Nicole Roberts and Gina D’Alelio was the top performer. That team raced to 11th place with a 4:28.13 time.
Jennifer Crawford, Rachel Roberts, Leanne Trischitta and Colleen Fitzpatrick took 13th place in the 4x800 meter race, running a time of 10:45.05.
