Just 4.28 Percent Turn Out For Town Elections

Manupelli and O'Leary win uncontested races for Board of Selectmen.

Stephen O'Leary and Kathryn Manupelli again earned seats on the North Reading Board of Selectmen in a quiet Tuesday election that attracted just 4.28 percent of the town's 11,041 registered voters.

O'Leary received 402 votes to Manupelli's 343 and each get three more years on the board.

John Murphy will return as Moderator after getting 390 votes.

Richard McGowan, with 363 votes, earned a seat on the School Committee. Write-in candidate Dyana Boutwell received 164 votes. McGowan and Boutwell will replace Gerald Venezia and Julie Koepke on the School Committee.

Current chairman Bill Bellavance won the race for the Community Planning Commission with 394 votes. Write-in candidate Ryan Carroll received 58 votes. Carroll will replace Joseph Veno on the commission.

Charles Carucci won a five-year seat on the Housing Authority with 415 votes, the most of any candidate in Tuesday's election.
