Trooper Dale Jenkins, 36, arraigned on Tuesday in Salem District Court. North Reading man was seriously injured in May crash.

Massachusetts State Trooper Dale Jenkins, 36, was arraigned on Tuesday morning in Salem Superior Court today on operating under the influence and being negligent, causing serious injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, causing serious injury and carrying a firearm while intoxicated in connection with a motor vehicle crash in North Andover in May. An Essex County grand jury indicted Jenkins on Nov. 18, moving the case from District Court to Superior Court.

Judge John Lu ordered $20,000 cash bail and ordered Jenkins to abstain from alcohol with random screens, not to drive without a valid license and not to possess firearms. This the same bail and conditions of release set at the District Court arraignment on May 6.

Jenkins allegedly crashed his 1965 Corvette into a telephone pole on Sharpner’s Pond Road in North Andover in the early morning hours of May 4. His passenger, a 53-year old North Reading man, was airlifted to a Boston hospital with serious injuries. While in the ambulance on the way to Lawrence General Hospital, rescue personnel allegedly noticed a firearm in Jenkins’ pants pocket.
