Noel Hardy Passes Away

Was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1948.

Noel Hardy of North Reading, formerly of Raymond, NH, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was 86.

Born in Burlington, MA on December 25, 1930, he was the son of the late John S. and Bertha (Parshley) Hardy. He was also the son of the late Elsie C. Hardy. Noel was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1948. He later served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, he was a Sergeant and a member of the 11th, Army Airborne.

Noel was a member of the National Elevators Union, he worked for Westinghouse and for Otis. He was also worked for the Eastern Mass Bus Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 90 in Raymond, NH and a member of the National Elevator Industry, Local No. 4.

Noel loved everyone, he gave all of his heart away. He enjoyed the Red Sox, American Legion, the Bruins, (especially the Eddie Johnson and Jonny MacKenzie era) and he was very patriotic.

Family members include his loving wife of ten years, Margaret E. (MacGibbon) Hardy; his sons, Steven Michael Hardy and John Scott Hardy; daughters, Lyn Marie Wilson, Nancy Ellen Hardy and Christina Margaret Hardy; sisters, Doris Phyllis Broadhead, Ruth Roberta Bedard and Sandra Grenada; he was the brother of the late Francis Hardy; grandchildren, Elizabeth Wilson Evans, Jared Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Martin Nee, Trish Marchese, Timothy Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Jessica Hardy Bailey, John Hardy, Jonathan Noel Wilson, Carolyn Wilson, Caleb Wilson, Travis Hardy, Nathanael Wilson, Hannah Wilson, Chelsey Hardy and the late April Nee; great grandchildren, Isaiah Wilson, Chrystopher Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Luke Wilson, Zachary Wilson, Natalia Wilson, Molly Hodgins, Alevis Grace Wilson, Joselynn Alcorn, Haley Wilson, Evianna Alcorn, Emily Marchese, Ethen Bailey, Timothy Marchese, Savannah Wilson, Jackson Wilson, Rosalie Marchese and Gracelyn Wilson. He was the husband of the late Rita C. Hardy and loved her 6 children.

A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Evangelical Church, 105 Haverhill Street, North Reading on Friday, June 2 at 4 pm. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
