North Reading Election Results
In a race with no contested seats, only 6 percent of voters headed to the polls.

Editor’s note: This article has been updated to reflect that both O’Leary and Manupelli captured seats on the Board of Selectmen.
North Reading’s Tuesday, May 5 election drew only a fraction of the town’s registered voters to the polls for no officially contested races.
According to unofficial results posted on the town’s website, incumbent selectman Stephen J. O’Leary captured 494 votes and Kathryn M. Manupelli earned 422 votes in a race for two open positions.

The other races were also officially uncontested, though there were a few write-in candidates that secured a handful of votes. The full unofficial results, with winners in bold, are as follows:

Community Planning (1-year term to fill an unexpired term):
- Patricia E. Romeo -- 505
Housing Authority:
- Mary S. Prenney -- 548
Just 672 voters, or 6 percent of North Reading’s 10,593 voters, cast ballots in the election.
