North Reading Golf Pro Wins Tournament for One Fund
After winning the Mass. Open Golf Championship, Evan Harmeling donated his $15,000 in prize money to help Boston Marathon bombing victims.

A local golf pro earned a major victory recently. And not just on the course.
According to an article in the Eagle Tribune, 24-year-old Evan Harmeling, of North Reading and Andover Country Club, won the Mass. Open Golf Championship on Thursday.
Upon winning the tournament, Harmeling was given $15,000 in prize money, which he then opted to donate to the One Fund to help support the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, the newspaper reported.

The newspaper reports that Harmeling is an aspiring pro, and that he won the tournament in a three-hole playoff over competitor Chris Fitzpatrick.
"(The One Fund) can use it a lot more than me. That’s for sure," said Harmeling, according to the Eagle Tribune. "I had read all about (PGA Tour pro) James Driscoll’s ‘Birdies for Boston,’ campaign. I guess I just wanted to do something, too."
