North Reading Night Off is March 13th!

Save the Date: Community Impact Team Sponsors 4th Annual North Reading Night Off

The Community Impact Team (CIT)’s K12 Action Team will sponsor its fourth “North Reading Night Off” on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. North Reading Night Off is an evening designed to afford families with time to spend together after 5:00pm. Schools are asked to relax homework requirements, municipal entities are asked to not schedule evening meetings on this date (to the best of their ability), and select local restaurants will offer "specials" if you choose to take your family out or use take out. Superintendent Jon Bernard noted, “We’re asking families and adults to enjoy a night off spending it however they choose and not having to run to a practice or meeting. This isn’t about going out together either. Stay at home, play a game, or catch up on that book you’ve been meaning to read.”

This initiative is in response to ongoing feedback from North Reading families that stress and the need to balance family life is a widespread concern. While we can’t change our culture with one night, we can help provide a few hours during which families can enjoy dinner and a stress-free evening together. The CIT is seeking support form town committees, schools, leagues and families by pledging to take the night off. A list of specials offered by town restaurants will be published soon.
