North Reading Police Department Announces Two Promotions

Two members of the North Reading Police Department were promoted on Thursday.

NORTH READING, MA — Two members of the North Reading Police Department were promoted on Wednesday. Sgt. Joseph Thibodeau has been promoted to Lieutenant and Detective Thomas Hatch has been promoted to Patrol Sergeant.

A promotion ceremony was held on Wednesday at the North Reading Police Department. Town Clerk Barbara Stats swore both into their new position. Family of the two officers and members of the North Reading Police Department also attended.

Lt. Thibodeau is a 31-year veteran of law enforcement. He has served the town of North Reading for the past 28 years. In his previous assignment, he served as a patrol supervisor for 22 years.

Patrol Sgt. Hatch has been a member of the North Reading Police Department for 22 years. For the past 10 years, he has served as lead Detective.

“I’m extremely proud of Lieutenant Joseph Thibodeau and Patrol Sergeant Thomas Hatch; they have each demonstrated a sincere dedication to high quality police work and to serving the town of North Reading,” said Chief Murphy. “The town of North Reading is fortunate to have such highly qualified candidates, who will remain an important part of the future of the North Reading Police Department. I wish both success as they move forward in their careers.”
